OCAD over AutoCAD

OCAD is my school; AutoCAD is a software for 2D and 3D design (interior, architecture etc.) It may be a coincidence that the school acronym is apart of the name of the software program but to me it's a bit more than that. You see, upon applying to universities in my last year of high school, my top two choices were Advertising at OCAD and Interior Design at Ryerson. Advertising was something new to me that I just stumbled upon at the time. In contrast, Interior Design was something I wanted to do for two years. Unfortunately I was rejected by the program, which I now am glad that I was because otherwise, if I had chosen Interior Design over Advertising, I probably would've regretted my decision. Point is, thanks to the annual IKEA catalogue, my like for interior design never died. I cannot speak for the quality of all IKEA furniture but I love their minimal packaging, decent price range and branding.

IKEA!

This was my last outing before going back to school. My parents don't like IKEA so I've only been to IKEA once before in my whole entire life -.-'' My friend KC has never been either so we spent our day there. There's a reason why IKEA has their own food place and cafe! If you are looking for something in particular to purchase, you'll need an entire day there!

Chicken & Pasta

We ate first, of course. KC's meal with coffee. I was telling her that you'll never find one of those drink refill machines in China because people will go crazy and companies will go bankrupt as a result (i.e instead of one drink per person in the family, they only buy one drink, share it, and keep refilling it).

Salmon & Veggies

I opted for something healthy? And that's not water, it's Sprite without fizz =( Boo! I really liked the salmon but didn't touch the broccoli and peas lol.

Solar Powered Table Lamp

We were intrigued by these solar powered table lamps. Unfortunately, none of them worked! I tried to put the panel under another table lamp to power it up but it was still a fail I think. And see how the light "bulb" is extremely tiny? That's not gonna light up anything!

Our stuff.

By the time we got to the warehouse part of IKEA, I was so tired from lugging around stuff that I needed a cart to just put everything in. These carts are so difficult to maneuver -.-"

Frozen Yogurt

Okay, this tasted like 70% ice cream and 30% frozen yogurt. Damn IKEA, I wouldn't call this frozen yogurt! It was only $1 though. Yum.

My purchase.

I wasn't there to look for furniture, it was more like "I wonder what gems I'll find at IKEA" kind of thing. My favourite candle scent is fresh linen, smells just like laundry out of the dryer which is very orgasmic ahaha!!! But the one IKEA has is bigger than my head and I just wanted mini ones. I purchased vanilla and berries, and a little holder to go with it.

I'm such a kid

IKEA meant kids are the most important people in the world. Please, kids don't need to have that kind of mindset yet. Anyone agree?

I believe I can fly

Has anyone ever asked you what is one super power you wish you had ? Well, my answer to that is I would love to be able to fly!!! I don't just want to fly in an airplane, I want to have wings! You know, the wings that birds have? I believe that if I consume enough "wings", I may one day grow my own pair of wings and become a bird like I was suppose to.

Anyway, let me introduce Jason to you guys. Jason is my high school friend and we have adopted each other as the other twin. You see, like me, Jason is a stick too and we pig out whenever there's food in front of us ahahaha. I was not joking when I told him he must get a girlfriend that will make him fat, in which he will then marry her for doing me this favour =) I'm sure he wishes the same for me =p

Puck N' Wings - varies locations

What better way to achieve this goal faster than stuffing our faces with meat?! Wings it is! And with beer? Yes please!

Spinach Dip

This was surprisingly good! I love spinach (in salads at least) but I HATE (cooked) red spinach, the Chinese way of cooking it at least :s Anyway, the dip was warm which preps the tummy for the soon-to-follow meat indulgence!

Lemon Pepper

There was too much seasoning on this one so it was alright.

Honey BBQ

This is my usual hehe. So good ^_^

Blue Cheese

So theses aren't really blue, but definitely fattening! We also ate all the carrot and celery sticks 'cause they were pretty juicy lol.

It's gonna be a Guu-d year!

Current Songs: Avril Lavigne - What the Hell // Ashley Tisdale - Unlove You

Guu Izakaya - 398 Church St.

My second time at Guu! The place is amazing and has definitely become my favourite restaurant. I managed to snap this picture just before it turned completely dark. Guu does not take reservations but if wait time is too long, you can leave your cell number with them and they'll call you 15 minutes before a table is ready. I recommend going either has a group of two or four. Anymore than that you might have to wait two hours for a table.

Ceiling

So I went on New Years Eve and had dinner there with 3 + 1 friends. (originally it was 4 of us but as another friend finished work nearby and we had an extra seat at the end of the table, we invited him to join us).

Regular Menu

Everything is categorized to make our lives easier. The menu made me want to cut up the squares and draw out random dishes to have haha. Don't you love the white on black contrast?

Daily Special Menu

Their daily special menus are printed on paper. I'm not sure how often they change it up but I know it's not the same menu as the first time I visited. I recommend always ordering something from this menu because you never know when you'll see it again while the regular menu will always be there.

Daily Special Menu (Spicy chopped B.C. tuna on rice with quail egg on top.)

For example, you will not find this dish and the next dish I'm showing on the regular menu. This is a cold dish and I believe the tuna is raw because it's served with wasabi. This is probably one of my least favourite dishes of the evening just because I'm not a fan of raw fish :s

Daily Special Menu (Octopus Carpaccio with garlic chips & charred scalions sauce.)

I don't remember too much about this dish because I think it was a little bland. However, it was good but just wasn't love.

Ikapiri / Deep Fried (Deep fried calamari with spicy ketchup and wasabi mayo.)

This was probably my favourite dish of the evening! It's about all the spiciness I can take without quenching for water (which is excellent haha). The only thing I wish was different about this dish was the use of ketchup. Ketchup to me is very western and not something I would expect in Japanese cuisine. But just an F.Y.I, everything on this plate was edible =D

Ebimayo / Deep Fried (Deep fried prawn in crispy batter with spicy mayo.)

I love prawn, shrimp, the whole family basically and this dish was good. I don't remember it being that spicy though. This picture only shows half of the plate.

Takoyaki / Deep Fried (Deep fried puffed octopus balls (5) served with tonkatsu sauce and mustard mayo.)

Loved this dish! I mean, I can't really compare it to takoyakis from other restaurants but I enjoyed this one. *thumbs up*

Gyu Carpaccio / Cold Dishes (Lightly seared marbled beef sashimi with ponzu sauce, wasabi mayo and garlic chips.)

Again, I'm not a raw anything type of person and I usually stay away from sashimis. This wasn't bad, in fact it was kinda good actually. But there's just something about raw meat that's kind of a turn off.

Karubi / Grilled (Salt & pepper grilled beef short ribs with green onion sauce.)

This one was a slight disappointment. Don't get me wrong, I liked this dish as well. However, I felt like I've had something similar at Dim Sum before and it's not as unique of a dish as I expected it be.

Yakiudon / Rice and Noodle (Pan fried udon noodle with beef and vegetables.)

This was as good as the last time I had it =D My friend loved it too. The texture is wonderful and the udon just melts in your mouth *drool*.

Lulu Melon (Vodka + Melon Liqueur + Guava Juice + Soda) / Frozen Grapes

My alcohol which I didn't like *sigh* Next time, I'm sticking to Bamboo.

Me: Flash makes my drink look more green than it is
Peez: Just put the napkin behind it as a white background
Me: ohhhhhh... smart! *should've known*

Emergency Exit Door

That is all for now my cupcakes ^_^
